Foothills Alliance is funded through a diverse group of sources including grants, private donations and fundraisers. A small percentage of the budget is provided by United Way funds, and federal and state grants help fund crisis intervention programs. Foothills Alliance must depend on the community to support the child abuse prevention program and to provide supplemental funds for all three programs. Below is information on our major fundraising campaigns and events: Capital Campaign For more than 16 years, Foothills Alliance leased various buildings throughout Anderson, always striving to better serve clients. During that time, the staff has grown to a current team of twelve professionals. Since 2001, the number of clients served has increased more than 250 percent, making it necessary to find a location suitable to meet the increased demand for services. Due to the Alliance's growth, the Board of Directors voted in January 2004 to search for a suitable, affordable building to permanently house the Alliance. The agency had existed for several years with inadequate office space for staff, interns, volunteers, and work-study and co-op students; severe lack of counseling and therapy space; inadequate waiting areas for family members; no play area for children; no space for group therapy; no board meeting room: no training room for volunteers, and no storage area for official documents and donations of goods for indigent clients. The board appointed a committee chaired by Neal Glenn to search for building that could be bought with the community's help. In May 2005 the board purchased a former physician's office at 216 East Calhoun Street. The 3,982 square-foot building was purchased and totally renovated at a cost of $325,000. The redesigned plan of this building includes appropriate office, storage, and meeting space to satisfy the current needs of the Alliance plus allow for growth of the agency. Clients have more privacy, families are more compassionately served, and educational programs are more effectively presented in the new building. The total campaign goal is $470,000, including an endowment to cover future maintenance needs. Donors giving at the levels listed below may name the Foothill Alliance building, room, or program in honor or memory of a loved one.
Festival of Trees
In addition to providing a wonderful Christmas event for our community, the Festival of Trees is the main fundraiser for Foothills Alliance. (The 2005 event generated $24,253.) The Festival is a community-wide family holiday event featuring beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses. The magic of the Festival is centered around lavish, uniquely decorated one-of-a-kind trees. Creative wreaths and gingerbread houses round out the beauty of the event, and every item is for sale to the public. Through donations and sponsorships, the Festival of Trees provides an opportunity for individuals, groups and businesses to make a difference in the lives of hurting people. Participants will experience elegant and creative trees, adorned to reflect their decorators’ favorite Christmas carol. Children will especially enjoy the array of gingerbread houses, each with its own unique design and personal touch by its creators. The community is invited to view the trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses throughout the Festival. An elegant Chocolate Affair and tree auction is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 7. Bidders may purchase a beautifully decorated tree for the holiday season that will be delivered to right to their door. Participation Levels
