Fay Brown Foothills Alliance Executive Director and Chief Professional Officer Fay Brown has served as Executive Director and Chief Professional Officer of Foothills Alliance since August 2002. She is responsible for overall administration and program management of the agency and works with the board of directors to develop and implement policy. She is responsible for a staff of 13 professionals as well as a large number of Alliance volunteers. Since becoming Executive Director, Mrs. Brown has supervised the development of the area's first Child Advocacy Center and expanded the role of Prevent Child Abuse in Anderson Country from a volunteer organization to an active organization with multiple paid staff. Most recently she has led the Board of Directors to purchase an agency-owned building with twice the space of the previous headquarters. The board has launched a three-year capital campaign to garner community support to pay for the building. Mrs. Brown came to Foothills Alliance after a 10-year career in higher education administration, serving as director of development at both Clemson University and Anderson College. She served as the first executive director of South Carolina-based Volunteers in Medical Missions (VIMM), a not-for-profit agency sending medical professionals on short-term mission trips around the world. She has also served VIMM as a member of the board of directors, chairman of the personnel committee, and advisory board member. Prior to moving to Anderson in 1987, she was a high school English and journalism teacher. A native of Tennessee, she is active in the Anderson Rotary Club and Boulevard Baptist Church. She is an English and mass communications graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and has done graduate study in communications at the University of Tennessee and the University of South Carolina. She is married to Dr. Nobel Brown, is the mother a grown son and daughter and has a granddaughter, Nora Elizabeth Brown. Return to Professional Staff page. |
